The short version

  • Logpulse, its coach, the calculators and the articles are general information, not medical advice.
  • Calorie, macro and energy numbers are estimates, not prescriptions.
  • Talk to a health professional first if you're pregnant, have a health condition or have a history of disordered eating.

Not medical advice

Logpulse is a general fitness and nutrition tracker for healthy people aged 16 and over. Nothing in the app, its coach, the calculators or the articles on mylogpulse.com is medical, dietetic, psychological or other professional advice, and none of it diagnoses, treats or prevents any condition. It doesn't replace care from your doctor, an Accredited Practising Dietitian, a physiotherapist or another qualified professional.

Numbers are estimates

Your calorie and macro targets come from standard formulas (Mifflin St Jeor and an activity factor) and your logs. Real energy needs differ from any formula by a few hundred calories, food labels and databases can be wrong, and calories burned by exercise are rough. Treat every number as a starting point and judge progress over weeks, not days.

The coach

The coach gives general guidance on training and food. Its answers are generated on your phone and can be wrong, incomplete or not right for you. It won't give advice on medicines, hormones, supplement doses, injuries or illness, and it caps how fast it suggests losing weight. Suggested target changes only apply if you accept them.

Check with a professional first if

  • you're pregnant or breastfeeding,
  • you're under 18 and want to change your weight,
  • you have diabetes, heart, kidney or liver disease, or any other health condition,
  • you take medicine that affects appetite, weight or blood sugar,
  • you have, or have had, an eating disorder or a difficult relationship with food,
  • you have an injury or pain when you train.

Stop and get help

Stop and see a doctor if you feel faint, dizzy, unwell, have chest pain or unusual shortness of breath while changing how you eat or train. If tracking food starts to feel stressful or controlling, take a break and talk to someone. The Butterfly Foundation helpline is 1800 33 4673, and Lifeline is 13 11 14. In an emergency call 000.
